Program Description:
Yonsei University is located in Seoul, Korea.  Founded in 1885, Yonsei is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the country.  Students in the Summer Exchange program will have access to distinguished faculty, high-quality courses, and the vibrant urban centers of Seoul.  The Yonsei International Summer School accepts students and faculty from all over the world, creating an international atmosphere.

The Yonsei International Summer School (YISS) has been welcoming international students since 1985. The program has evolved over the years in order to highlight growing interest in the arts, culture, and humanities while also offering cutting-edge classes in management and economics, global issues, history and social sciences, and science and technology. Students can take a variety of classes across 7 different course categories: Arts/Culture/Humanities, Korean Studies, Management/Economics, Social Sciences, Korean Language, East Asian Studies, and Science/Technology/Environment.  Yonsei International Summer School courses are intensive, so that students can complete the necessary coursework within the 6-week period.  Students will take 2-3 courses, with each class being about 2 hours a day (3 hours for Korean language classes) for four days a week.

In addition to regular coursework, students will have the opportunity to directly experience the Korean culture.  This includes a three day field trip and numerous extra curriculars.

Interested students can also take part in a Yonsei Internship Program.  The Corporate Internship is designed to let students experience a global corporate setting, while the Research Internship is geared towards allowing students to conduct research or advanced coursework.  These programs are open to all YISS participants, but do require separate application. Note that some of the corporate internships require knowledge of Korean.

500 spaces will be made available for summer school campuses at Yonsei housing facilities, all of which are close to the areas where many of the YISS classes will be held.  Space is limited, so it is recommended that students apply for housing as soon as they receive their admission number from YISS.  Students who are unable to get on campus housing or wish to live off campus can refer to Yonsei's housing information page.

About Yonsei

Set in western Seoul on the former site of the Yi Dynasty royal palace, Yonsei University is the oldest private university and one of the most internationalized in Korea. The main quad area resembles an ivy league university with gothic stone buildings, although this traditional core is being infused with new modern architecture as the university develops. Yonsei is one of the most selective of the Korean universities. It enrolls about 35,000 undergraduate and graduate students in a broad range of academic departments, a comprehensive graduate program, and professional schools.
